I judged the book by its cover but luckily my little cousin was with me to sway my decision. This restaurant is located in a strip mall and did not seem that it would be very appetizing. I WAS WRONG!! This place is delicious! There are many menu choices. However, the nachos are HUGE and appetizing. The burgers are tasty, grass fed and include local fixins! Service was great! Jenn made our experience go from OK to awesome! She was warm and friendly and answered all of our snobby "Chicago-Foodie" type questions :)

The Jimmy Buffet-esque decor will appeal to some. They have a decent burger at a decent price on half price burger night, otherwise it seems a little pricey for what and where it is. Lots of topping options, and they have a gluten free bun. Service wasn't bad, just a little weird. Hard to explain without sounding negative. Not a bad experience, just... weirdish. Better service and much cleaner restaurant than their sister restaurant, Noisy Oyster.

Great burger, with great service from Lauren S! I made my own burger, and it was great. The jalapeños were fresh. The tater tots were crisp and hot. Great place.

I was excited to take a friend here because the burgers were so good. Well, not today. My friend had the crab cake sandwich, just filler not much crab. My other friend, had the dry ranch wings and they were to salty to eat. Disappointed!!!!

Let me start by saying, the food tastes good and the portions are big...BUT in the wrong way. The bun for the burger is huge and honestly makes up the bulk of it, with a pretty tiny patty. They do have a large variety to choose from though, including build-your-own and a black bean patty option. I had that with pineapple and guacamole, which tasted great, but I was quickly filled up by so much bread. I also had the key lime milkshake which, again, tasted good, but it was the first time I've had one and while I love key lime pie, the graham cracker crust isn't so appealing in milkshake form. The service, however, was pretty slow. We waited about 20 minutes for the milkshakes to come out and watched as tables weren't being bussed and the line of customers continued to grow. Mind you, this was a Saturday at dinnertime and they were only seating people at about half the tables. It got to the point where one family decided to leave and made a comment about it to the hostess before leaving and they just responded, "okay." Overall, the experience was okay, but next time that I want a burger, I'll go to Sesame.

The burgers here are the best burgers I have ever ate in my life! They are fresh, huge, and all the toppings you can order are fresh. The fries were kind of soft which was disappointing. But our waiter delivered excellent customer service and I will come back for sure to try their other burgers.

OMG!! Big Billy's Burger Joint is EVERYTHING!! We are in Charleston for my daughter's Nat'l. Dance Competition and came across the BEST little burger joint on the planet!! EVERYTHING is made FRESH, to include the handcut potato chips and the in house ground ground beef!! Oh, and the condiments are homemade too....if you've ever been to Europe and had pommes frites or chips it's a similar type ketchup. Yummy! We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer! As you see, they were perfect and tasted as good as they looked. As my entree, I had a Patty Melt w/Fries! Delicious!! If you're ever in Charleston this place is a MUST eat at!! Ask for Lauren....really sweet! She was our waitress and really knew the menu! We will definitely be back!

I was really pleased when we stopped in after bowling with some friends! I got a lamb burger (with feta, which was delicious), their corn side, and I shared the fried pickles with the table. So yummy! I'm not super adventurous when it comes to meat, but I do like that they offer so many "exotic" choices, from lamb to ostrich or something crazy like that... Our waitress was very friendly. My only complaint is that the bill adds up fast. It's a good burger, but for 13 bucks (and it was on special), it wasn't THE BEST thing I've ever had. It'd be a good date spot, just not a "I need a burger right now" destination.

My family happened to stumble on to this place on the way back home from Charleston. Great atmosphere and vibes. Had a great waitress, April. You should ask for her. This place was so good, my dad begged me to write a review even though it's been a few weeks, back before I had a yelp. The food was really good. Large portion sizes, and arguably the best burgers ever. Bathrooms were very clean, and so was the rest of the place. Will definitely be going back.

We ventured back to Big Billy's this weekend with a gift card. We wanted a quick lunch on a Saturday and this place fit the bill. This time, I had the Farmer's Market Salad *with* the salmon, and it was huge and delicious and filling. This salad is definitely a meal and not a side item or starter like some restaurant salads. I was also disappointed in the portion of my husband's shrimp po boy compared to my salad and the entrees I saw at others' tables. All the other portions looked big. I'd really like to try an adult milkshake because they sell them and almost everyone I saw was drinking a milkshake after their meal. The food was great, but the service did not blow me away. Probably the weirdest thing was the gift card situation. My gift card had about $40 left on it when we were done, but the waitress did not give it back after swiping. Before we left our booth I got up to find her to get my card. When she saw me, she realized she had my card, handed it to me, and told me that it "might have something left on it". The check doesn't have the balance on it, she didn't tell me, and I'm really glad I found her and got it back because that's a lot of adult milkshakes :).

Fun, relaxed atmosphere, we sat at the bar and ate, as the tables were mostly full. They ran out of their wild burger by the time we got there at 7:30pm, They change it daily and that day would have been lamb burger, which I would have liked to try, but it was not to be. The burger was very good, and cooked just right. The bartender was really nice, and got us what we needed when we needed it. My friend got wings and said she liked them better than the ones at Kickin Chicken, so that's saying something.

Great service! Excellent cook! I ordered the breakfast burger; very thick patty, egg, bacon, hash browns, cheese. I always order my burgers medium but rarely do they ever arrive that way, but BIG BILLY's delivered! Cooked perfectly! I decided on a healthier side, sautéed broccoli. So good I ate all the broccoli before taking a bite of my burger! Everything was delicious!!

Was excited when I saw they have bison, ostrich, lamb, etc as a choice for the burger...then our server told me they didn't have any of that & only some "fresh my pleasant omega 3 beef"... Uh OK. That beef was just ok, the buns r too large and the acidity of the home made ketchup is an acquired taste.

Ive now been here twice, each time the food itself was actually not bad. I had the lamb burger the first time, the sandwich wasn't bad but nothing to blow me away. Most recently I had the shrimp po boy, the shrimp were large but the sandwich was on a lobster roll bun, making it a very tiny sandwich. I felt the portion size of this was a little lacking for the price tag. I enjoy the fries they serve, but the ketchup on the table with the 5 spice just didn't go well with the fries in my opinion. My wife and I would come back to try some other things, its hard to find the some of the wild game burgers that they offer.

I looked on Yelp to find a nice Charleston restaurant near my hotel and found this place. I really really enjoyed it. I tried the buffalo shrimp for an appetizer and it was soooo good. I build my own burger and I almost forgot what a real burger tastes like. It was tummy too. I recommend this spot to anyone. Oh try the garlic mayo. Great customer service from Chasity too!

I can't say the food is horrible but definitely can't say it's great. I love their sweet potato fries with honey dipping sauce. However their burgers are way to thick and small in diameter. They are like a small ball on the bun. You have more bun and toppings then actual meat. Also the meat is mediocre. I've definitely had much better. Even 5 guys is better. The price is INSANE!! Went with my sister had 2 burgers and water to drink paid 38$!!! I could have gone out for a nice steak dinner and paid the same downtown. Luckily we had a coupon for buy one get one 50% off. But they only gave half off the burger not the toppings which was pretty annoying. I will probably not ever return.

The food and service was great. My son an I very much enjoyed the homemade garlic and mayonnaise sauces and punch special. My son also got the fruit loop spiked milkshake and he said that it was delicious. We were able to park there after eating and leisurely walk to the North Charleston coliseum for a concert. I would highly recommend.

Worst customer service we've ever had! My husband and I recently got stationed here in SC (5 days ago) and we wanted to try a good burger joint. We arrive, got seated in a table, but then asked the front lady if we could get a booth. She cleared a table for us and was very helpful!! However, we waited 25 minutes and NO ONE asked for our order. We were ignored. We couldn't take any minute of it so we left. NEVER coming back here. Not that they care but if anybody else is considering to try this place out. DON'T! I have NEVER given a bad review on a restaurant, I guess this will be my first.

Arrived at Big Billy's Burger Joint hungry for a good burger. Seated straight off & greeted by waitress within few minutes. Nice interior with some outdoor tables as well & a long bar. Started off with Fat Tire on draft & some fried pickles. I love fried pickles...these weren't my favorite...a little too heavy on grease which made batter heavy too. Dipping sauce was sweet while I prefer a spicier approach. My dining partners enjoyed them so it all comes down to personal preference. For the main dish, I went with the night's special, Western Burger which was a beef burger on a bun with cheese, BBQ sauce & fried onion rings which came with homemade potato chips. A handmade burger is a wonderful thing...juicy, tasty, delicious. Very nicely cooked, seasoned, presented, press it down just a little so it's bite-able. Portion was perfect...I'm stuffed! Chips were nicely salted & fresh. Everyone else's burgers were similar in quality...very good! Fries were crispy & quality as well. Shakes were thick & filling. Everyone was happy happy happy. Thursday is half price burger night so our bill for four was a ridiculous $44 for 4 meals, 3 beers & 2 shakes. What??!! I would come back any night. Try them.

O-M-G was the food good! Burgers were perfectly cooked. All ingredients were fresh. Shakes were really good, I had a thin mint Girl Scout cookie shake & my hubby tried the strawberry limeade. Fries were really good too. Not just the frozen kind that is freezer burned. Would for sure come back!

People of North Charleston need to get out more if they think this is the best burger around. First the good. The homemade chips were very good. The rest. The burgers were average at best. They were over salted. The buns were OK. the fries were soggy and tasteless. We are not from the Charleston area and only stopped in as we were picking someone up at the airport. We will not return..

I consider myself to be a bit of a burger connoisseur but I do realize different people like different things. For me, this isn't the place and it's unlikely I'll come back unless someone else invites me along with them. Pros: "Exotic" meats are a fun thing. Hey, have you ever tried ostrich? Yes, I have! The bun did not come from an enormous factory. It was pretty sweet bread, but if you want a good burger an actual bakery or homemade style bun is essential. Atmosphere was nice for a burger joint, including the cool little fry baskets your side will likely come in. House made sauces. Cons: Exotic meats are expensive. For $15 your expectations go up a level and this place was unable to meet the heightened expectations. A standard beef burger would cost less but then it isn't as interesting and the other merits of the restaurant are not strong enough to overcome the competition. Slow. I like things cooked fresh but this was very slow. I didn't actually like any of the house made sauces. I have to wonder if they'd be better off not spending time and money on the sauces and instead putting their efforts into better customer service and redoing their computer systems, which seemed to give our server nothing but problems. Small. For $15 I expect a sizable burger and a pile of fries the size of my head. It was enough food for lunch, but $15 for lunch is a little over the top as well. Overall, I really want to like this place as they've got a lot of things done right that most other burger places do wrong. Sadly, they also do a lot of things wrong that other places do well. There are obviously those who like it, but I'm going to spend more time elsewhere.

The burger was really good despite how small it was, the fried pickles were awesome, the potato chips were way to greasy. Kinda expensive for the size as well.

Nice setting inside. Parking is easy. They serve beer and wine. Food was very tasty and service was very good. The Bison burger was excellent and the black bean burger was also good. I like that you can completely customize the burgers with a large variety of toppings. Also nice selection of sides. Would definitely return and recommend.

We stopped by this place on a Friday afternoon and the place was pretty busy but nothing too crazy. We were more than willing to wait for our table. Upon entering the restaurant we were asked our names to be put down on the "list" by a server. There were only 2 people waiting for a table at this time. When the hostess finally came back to the stand she sat both of the tables in front of us pretty much back to back. After that she tried everything within her power to avoid any eye contact with us standing there waiting for about 10 minutes and turning her back to us. I look around the restaurant and there are dirty tables everywhere! Then 2 other men walk in to be seated and within 5 minutes she cleans off a table and seats them before us. At this point I'm ready to leave, but my husband insisted on waiting. It was obvious by the look on their faces that they knew they had been sat before their turn. I don't understand how you could be that oblivious? I guess our names were never even written down. Regardless, we were the only people standing there waiting for several minutes. About 25 minutes after entering we were finally cleared a table to sit down with no apology or any real acknowledgement. Mind you, I was a hostess for 2 years in college and know how it all works and how stressful it can be. One thing you do not do is ignore people, it is very rude! Besides this incident the burgers were "ok." Our server was very attentive and nice so that kind of made up for everything. I still don't think we will be back though.

Billy's was fantastic! I ordered the onion rings and the 3 cheese grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. The onion rings were clearly hand breaded and super crispy. The grill cheese was one of the best I've ever eaten. My server Shelvy was very friendly and super attentive. I will definitely come back to Billy's next time I'm in Charleston.

Lime Corn on the cob side was excellent but burgers were show stoppers. Nice to have a bar drink with a burger. They got these crazy milkshakes with alcohol in them!! Nice friendly staff too providing good service. Thursday are busy there with half off burgers that you build yourself.

I had not been here for a while. I was regular customer but after some management changes the place just was not the same. The highlight of our dinner last night was Corey.....he was a super funny and kept us entertained. He had several other tables and seemed equally friendly and efficient to all he waited on. Two of us ordered the 3 Cheese, Bacon & Tomato sandwich. It was good but the bacon was a bit undercooked. The food was okay but the service was outstanding. Way to go Corey, we would come back just to have you wait on us again!!

First-off, the fries are absolutely amazing. I ordered regular fries and they came in very satisfying thick-cuts. The best part was that they were both thick AND extremely crispy. Perfectly seasoned and the ketchup was very unique. It seems that Big Billy's may make their own ketchup and mustard which is always appreciated. The sweet potato fries also satisfied and the tater tots were raved about by my company. I also enjoyed that they came in really cute wire baskets. In addition to the fries, I ordered the daily special which for today was a Boar burger (since it's boar you can only order it medium-well or well-done) with a pineapple and hawaiian jerk topping. I figured this dish was labeled a "special" for a reason. It doesn't come with lettuce, tomatoes or onions but I ordered these on the side because I love my burgers with lots of vegetables (adding these toppings are free of charge). I knew that this order would be either a hit or a miss. I ended up scraping off most of the jerk seasoning because it was very overpoweringly sweet and filled with spices at the same time. Additionally, the sauce was very sticky and chunky with what seemed like pineapple bits and was simply too much for me. I let my boyfriend try the burger and he raved about it so this might just be out of personal preference. The boar meat did not disappoint but I didn't get to appreciate the taste of it as much as I would have liked because the pineapple and jerk sauce was once again pretty overpowering. The first bite took me by complete surprise but I ended up enjoying the burger fairly decently. Next time, I will definitely opt for a safer option like the breakfast burger which looked amazing. I also loved that they offer different variations of burger meats like lamb, boar, bison, and venison depending on the day. In addition, I ordered a caramel pumpkin pie milkshake which was amazing. The perfect amount of thickness and it didn't get runny until I finished it. It tasted exactly like a pumpkin pie should in milkshake form. They have other milkshake options which all sounded absolutely heavenly. For a fun option, spiked milkshakes are also offered. Conclusively, we had a pleasurable experience. The interior is definitely catered to the touristy side of displaying Charleston and I definitely felt like I was at the ocean once I entered. They have really fun interior. Our waiter was very laid-back and made us feel comfortable, the service was a little slow but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a problem. They also have lots of great specials going on. On Thursday, they have 1/2 off burgers and a $7 happy hour menu. Overall, the restaurant was clean and had a very laid-back atmosphere. I enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back again to try another milkshake and burger!

This place prides themselves on making everything in house. I had a fantastic meal. The burger was cooked extremely well. Our server Tika was excellent and extremely attentive. She was very helpful with our questions about the menu and about the local area. Would definitely come back here if I make another trip to Charleston.

I've been to Big BIlly's Burger Joint a couple of times. The first time, I had posted on a picture they posted on Facebook and I was invited in to come and have a milk shake on the house. We went after a 5k for lunch and the burger was delicious. The milk shake was.... superb. I had the breakfast burger. There was a lot on the burger! The bun itself was kind of dry, but that doesn't bother me because I don't eat the bun. The sweet potato fries aren't great. Sometimes they taste kind of raw, even if I order them well done. I opt for the side salad or tater tots (which are fantastic) My husband had the Boar Burger and said it was delicious! I'm glad they offer a variety of different meats- besides beef and turkey. They also have options for my vegetarian friends, which is great! It is a nice setting for group outtings. They are clean and have a very friendly staff.

If you need a good burger this is your place in the Charleston area. Went here for dinner on May 9th. The burgers are ground fresh daily and the condiments are made in house. Everything was amazing. The black and bleu burger and fries did not diappoint. They have milkshakes in all flavors and the watermelon was the special of the day. Great thing on a warm summer day. The service was great and the decor was a fun, tropical theme. Definitely a repeat next time I'm in town.

I was around the area and got some ice cream at the tcby and I asked the lady there about the billys joint and she said that is her favorite place to eat. She says she makes it a habit to go at least once a week. I decided to try it and she was right, the food was great. My wife and I loved the decoration in the place, kind of had an island feeling. I had the chicken wrap and she had the Mahi Mahi wrap. The portion was enough for each and she even had some left that we took home to eat before going to bed. I like my things spicy and I tried some of that hot sauce local made I think and it was perfect, enough spice and flavor where you can actually taste it. Tater tots and sweet potato fries were on point. I did not have a hamburger only because I was in the mood for a wrap but if the burgers are as good as the wraps, then those burgers must be epic.

Another really good burger here in Chucktown, Big Billy's has an "island" theme going on with surfboards and thatched roof tables. Between that and the friendly staff, it was a good time. Maybe it's cheesy and cliche, but it's far from boring. What's not to love about a burger they call "Bacon, Black & Bleu" which has a decent serving of bacon and a good scoop of blue cheese and is blackened with spices? I would only say that it seemed like the burger was closer to a quarter pound, but that might just be my own impression as the burger size isn't shown on the menu. With a neat little fry-o-later basket of sweet potato fries that I dipped in their house-made ketchup (they also have a squeeze bottle of their house-made mustard on the table), it was a nice meal. And really, I don't NEED a half pound of grilled meat, do I? Even though the place was quite full, my burger was prepared very quickly and was plenty hot when it got to the table. Medium rare as requested, it had a nice pink center and was perfectly cooked. The burger fell apart as I took bites out of it, but I think that's normal for all beef without fillers. Bottled and draft beers available as well as a full bar.

My fiancé and I were recommended this place for awesome burgers. Little did we know we'd get great service from our waiter Corey, a mouthwatering burger, delicious tots, and ended with a recommended Star Burst spiked milkshake. Needless to say this place will definitely be seeing us more often. Everything is made in house! Highly recommend!

Everything was fantastic! My son had a caramel twinkie shake and thought he had gone to heaven. I built my own burger and it was cooed to perfection. Kellie our server was most pleasant and very attentive. I recommend it to all meat eaters and shake lovers alike.

  • Courtney H.

This place has the best burgers I've had in Charleston. Better than sesame or triangle's burgers by far in my opinion. I didn't like the burgers they had on the menu so I made my own with grilled red pepper, caramelized onions, pepper jack cheese and bacon mayo. The first bite made me shout holy sh!t because it was so good. Chastity was our server and she did a great job. The only complaint was the restaurant was so cold it was almost miserable to sit there while we waited for our food.

    (5)
  • Steven G.

The burger was fair and I felt it was overpriced for the small portion served. For $10 I expected a very large burger and a heap of fries. What I received was a substantially small burger and a handful of fries. I ordered the bacon, black, and blue burger and while there was plenty of cheese, I hardly tasted any seasoning. Worst of all, a pint of Sam Adams was $6. I'm glad I did not order two! The atmosphere was fun and clean, but a restaurant specializing in burgers should leave you walking away with a satisfied, full stomach - and not feeling price gouged!

I'm on the hunt for a fantastic burger. This one was very good, but didn't quite make the cut, although it was good enough that I'll definitely be back for another try. Ordered med/rare and got well done, but my husbands was cooked to perfection. Even though it was overly done it was still very tasty as were the fixin's. I got the egg on top, and they even asked how I wanted it cooked (no one's ever asked me that before) and that was cooked to perfection. The tots were great, the wings were ok. The really big disappointment was their ketchup. It's SUPER sweet, which I'm not crazy about. At first I thought it was the roll that was sweet, so took off the roll, then my friend mentioned it's their special ketchup. I wonder if they'd mind if I brought my own ketchup next time. I can't have a burger without ketchup, but I can't use that ketchup. I really think I'd bump this to 4 stars next time because everyone else's burgers were cooked perfect. Husband ordered the pumpkin pie shake - FANTASTIC.

I was in town for StormCon and Big Billy's was just up the street. I was running an event and my friends ventured out to bring be back a tasty burger with some delicious tots. It was good enough that we went back the next night. Our server was wonderful, if a little slow - I don't recommend sitting out front. It took us forever to find someone to pay. The Wild Boar Burger was the special, so I ordered that, with bacon, smoked gouda, swiss, pineapple, and roasted garlic mayo. It was amazing. Sadly, the Chili-Lime Corn on the Cob was mostly flavorless and needed salt; perhaps it was just overpowered by the superior burger. Except for the fact that everything was slow I enjoyed it. I'd eat there again, and hope to do so next StormCon; however I don't know that I'd go very far out of my way to return. Unless perhaps they have a different wild game burger available. My advice - go there when you have time and sit inside so you aren't neglected. Enjoy the beverages, relax, and get one of their amazing wild game burgers with your own unique set of toppings. That said - if you are on any kind of a deadline, avoid this place like the plague.

4 stars for the burgers but this one gets a 3 overall cause the service was SO lacking. It really was bad. They need to give their servers smaller sections so they can actually take care of their customers...or hire more experienced servers. Service was very slow, she had to ask us what we ordered to print our bills and I went my whole meal without a refilled beverage or the condiments I asked for. The food and menu however is on point!! Just go when it's not busy.

If I could leave no stars I would! This was the worst lunch my husband and I have had . Service was sloppy and he didn't write anything down so food came out wrong both our burgers were not cooked to requested temp and had to be sent back. Even after recooking the burgers were horrible. The milkshakes were ok very small for the $5 price tag. Neither of us aye our food. We will NOT be back! :-(

Was passing through and found this place was close. Have to say it was a lame experience. Service was painfully slow, and waitress had to be reminded on a few things. Took forever just to get drinks even. We had a burger which was really good, tots on the side were good, but the grilled cheese we ordered was bleck! Hardly grilled, bread was barely crunchy, and cheese only slightly melted before being set on the counter to cool off completely before being brought to me. Bummed.

Server is extremely nice. His name is "Corey"?? I feel horrible because he gave me his business card with his name on it, and I threw it in my luggage somewhere. He let us sample all of the sauces that they had and I'm glad that he did. I'm hooked on their roasted garlic mayo. I'm trying to replicate it myself! As soon as I find his card again I will update with his name!

I ordered The Frenchie burger. It was a good burger, as for turkey burgers go. It was juicy and had a layer of Granny Smith apple, as well as Brie cheese. I just wish the apple was a little sweeter, a little too sour for my taste. I will say that the fried pickles are very addicting, not overly salted like other places. The decor is more on the tropical side, which I didn't quite understand for a burger joint, but it is something different for the local area. I really liked the variety of beers on draft as well as the choices if cocktails. I gave this restaurant 3 stars because although it was a good burger joint, I wasn't "wowed" by it. And after our waiter asked if we were ready for our check, it was several minutes before he came back, and I had to remind him about the check.

We dropped in here in a rush to catch a flight, expecting a solid burger. My husband and I have not been this unexpectedly impressed in a long time!! Wow. Killer burgers - amazing service by a server named Corey - just an overall great experience. Yes, it's in a strip mall near an outlet shopping center - but I hope that this does not deter anyone from checking it out. These people know what they're doing when it comes to burgers. This is what they do.

Food was good but beer was way, way overpriced... Their local draft beer was $7 and that was happy hour price!! Sorry- coming from San Diego (which is a much higher cost of living)- you can get a happy hour pint of anything for MUCH cheaper). We had to ask what prices were (no list and no one knew off hand). My husband actually even went to the bar and asked (she had no idea off the top of her head). Also- if you serve beer you should have a general idea about what your serving!!!

We went there because on another app this was ratted the number 1 restaurant on the list of more than 200 with almost all the stars. We arrived... and the place was almost empty on a Friday night. So, we expected that our order will be ready soon after we ordered. Well, it wasn't! We ordered milkshakes with no toppings. They made a mistake and fixed. Then the food was taking forever, I mean FOREVER! Finally, we asked to bring the kids food first. One order of the adults was delay because they sent it to a wrong table! That what the waitress said! She was very friendly but anyway I did not get it, if there was only people sitting on one table in the bar area and two more tables taken in our area... Also, that meal was on the Daily suggestion menu, so my thinking was it should be almost ready to eat. 3 of us got finally their meal... Mine still was on hold. I imagine maybe it will be a very sophisticated dish because of the amount of time that they were taking to make a new one... Wrong! There were like 7 breaded salty shrimps on top of a hotdog style bread!!! My side also was on hold, again they mixup and they will send something else. My husband's sweet potatoes fries were overcooked and his Elk burger was well done instead of medium well. We paid about $65 for 4 even tough they put out of the bill my meal. After this incident, I opened Yelp (the app that I use when we travel) to take a look of the rating, it has 2 stars! Which we are agree. We chose this restaurant because my husband trusted TripAdvisor ratings which were wrong at least for us. No way this restaurant is number one in Charleston! which is well known for its amazing food. And there is owners, how the employees ruin your business!

Today was your final chance. Came in with 18 month son. Male host never mentioned high chair, didn't ask. Nothing. Walked us to a booth that a server was cleaning. Then when he got us to another one he Just left. I sat for about 5 mins watching two managers a table away chat and play on POS. Server today was number 729. Blt sucks. Atleast the person you ripped it off but BBQ sauce on it. This one sucks. Just give up service sucks. Food is bad. My last review. Even one of your servers replied back and said how sorry everything was and admitted they had problems. How are you still open ?

Stumbled upon Billys on a Friday night while looking for a place for takeout. Ordered the following to go: Teriyaki Wings app, Fried Green Tomatoes, I Wanna Lai Ya Burger, and Bacon, Black and Blue burger. Overall, the service has below average and the food was about the same. What sticks out: the fried green tomatoes are soggy and disgusting. If you can imagine them being dry, mushy, and sour, then you got it. Also, the burgers "artisan" bun is just a firm, dense puck. Wish I would have saved my money and went to McDonalds.

Really liked this place. Jalapeño pimento appetizer was excellent bit had to ask for more chips when the first were stale. Got more quickly and waiter was apologetic. Black and blue burger was excellent. Definitely try

I really do love this place! So much variety, delicious always, cool atmosphere. Only thing I wish they would fix is the service. It's seriously bad sometimes. One waiter I'm pretty sure was high, the other didn't mention they were out of certain meats until after we ordered and another just never showed up. I keep going back because the foods seriously delicious! I'm just waiting for one more bad service though....

I would leave zero stars if it were possible, as we were never seated. My wife and I went in on a Saturday night around 8pm. The restaurant was moderately busy with 6 or so tables empty. A friendly girl quickly greeted us saying she needed clean off a table. After a few minutes she returns and tells us that the manager said to come back in 45 minutes because the kitchen was in the weeds, and not to seat any more guests. Hmmm, we would have sat, gladly waited, and had appetizers and a couple of drinks, but we weren't given this option. Short story shorter, we went to Sesame Burger and I gave them 5 stars.

Just wrapped up our annual holiday party at Big Billy's. We had no idea they offer catering, but when my husband and I popped in for a beer a couple of weeks ago, the owner sat down with us and we learned about it. Our staff had an excellent time, filled themseves up with dishes such as delicious boiled shrimp and super-crispy drummettes. The staff greeted us with sincere enthusiasm and kept us all happy with fresh hot food and cold drinks. The price was right, too.

Do not order from their happy hour menu. It's a ripoff. $7.00 for nachos and $4.50 extra for chicken. We got a plate of chips with a glob of sour cream with three tiny pieces of dried chicken. Had the boneless wings there once too. It was pretty much a Tyson quality chicken and a $1.00 menu portion for $7.00. Will not be back. Spoke to a friend who had a same experience as other yelpers with dried out not-as-ordered burger. No wonder the place is always empty.

Nothing special, average burger, honestly the portions were kind of small. The "special" shakes were good, but 5$ for a small glass seemed a little pricey.

Just left this establishment without even eating. Server had his hands in his hair, nose ear and down the back of his pants prior to serving me my drink. Nasty much? The host mumbled when we entered, then wandered around eating out of the window before seating us. Low hygiene from staff, not what you want to see in a restaurant.

We were staying at a hotel near Big Billy's. We had walked a ton that day & we just wanted a burger before going back to the hotel & crashing for the night. We stumbled upon Big Billy's & decided to give it a shot despite all the cranky reviews. Service: Our waitress was sweet as pie, offered suggestions on what she liked, & was supper efficient. We were also warmly greeted by both the manager & the bartender. Food: It was hot, fresh & delicious. The Hubs had their breakfast burger (burger, over easy egg, bacon, ham, & hashbrowns on a freshly baked bun...sounds gross, but I tried a bite & agreed it was awesome). I had "The Frenchie" which was a moist & awesome turkey burger with brie, apples & garlic mayo. It was hands down THE BEST turkey burger I have had in my life. If you haven't tried Big Billy's in awhile...maybe it's time to give it another shot. We would eat there again if we were locals.

I approached Big Billy's with some trepidation, given their 3-star Yelp rating. However, my friends showed me their much higher rating on another site. So, we decided to roll the dice since it was so close. Our party of four each thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The burgers were high quality beef, juicy & flavorful. The add-ons & sauces were great, too. The selection of draft beers was fairly good, though it was typically heavier on ales and lighter on pilsners & lagers. Our server, April, was prompt & pleasant. I left wondering why only 3 stars... I would have expected this to be a solid 4 star eatery.

I don't get this place's rating. The burgers are really tasty. People really want to complain because hey have to think about what they want to order on their burger? I loved the build your own burger option. Great toppings and also if you are a vegan, though I am not, you can eat here too! Also, if you aren't a burger fan there are other options. Beverage wise..good beer choices and the shakes we had at our table were awesome. We have the thin mint, mudslide, Jedi mind trick, and we were even able to get a custom shake. Some of the bad reviews go on about rude staff when it comes to request, but our waitress was able to combine some flavors for us. The service was a little slow but it wasn't bad. I enjoyed this place. We'll be going back.

On 5-27-13 (at 5pm) my wife and I went to this establishment for the 3rd time. Previous experiences were good. This one was not good. I ordered the Chicken Club Wrap. In the first half of the sandwich I found 4 pieces of chicken fat and had to remove them from my mouth. I decided to open up the second half of the sandwich to look to see what I was about to eat and noticed two large pieces of chicken fat. I told the server and he said he would tell the manager. The server returned and said the manager said that I if wanted another chicken sandwich or a milk shake that it would be at their expense. I ask the waiter why would I order another chicken sandwich if the first one was bad (and I had no desire for a milk shake). I asked for the manager to come to the table. The manager came and told me there would not be any charge for my order. I said that not why I called you to the table. Let's discuss how all of this chicken fat got into a chicken sandwich. Listen to this. He said the chicken breasts come with fat on them from his supplier and that his prep man does not have the time in the kitchen to prep the chicken by cutting the fat off. I told him that is ridiculous. He restated that his prep man does not have the time. I told him that I was there at 5pm and the place was not busy. He went on to say that I am the the 3rd person to complain about the chicken fat in the sandwiches over the past 2 weeks, and that he himself complained. I told him if he knows of 3 complaints, then there are others he did not hear about and he agreed. It would only take about 30 seconds if that to cut the hanging fat off of a chicken breast. Who is running the kitchen? This manager comp'ed my meal, but I was not looking for that. The owner needs to talk with the manager and get his attitude changed. I suggest you don't order the chicken and stick with the hamburger. The chicken rates 1 star, the manager rates 1 star and their hamburger rates a 5 star.

The food was great and the prices were very reasonable. Another huge plus, the staff was great. Our waiter Corey was helpful, positive and extremely informative with the food. Never had to ask for anything, his expectation for himself was to get it there before we asked about it! Overall fantastic experience.

It was crazy in there yesterday with two sold out shows going on across the street. The staff was run ragged and came out like champs. The food was right on spot and the bartenders probably need a day off to recuperate. Godd job y'all.

MMmm! Good Burger! I accidentally stumbled upon Big Billy's Burger Joint while walking around in the shopping center. I ordered a regular burger with cheese and fries. I was surprised. That was one of the best burgers that I've had. The fries were really good too. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. That's why I gave a 4 star rating instead of 5 star. I can't speak for the rest of the food, but if you want a regular burger and fries, I highly recommend giving Big Billy's Burger Joint a try.

From the owners of the Noisy Oyster comes their newest concept, Big Billy's Burger Joint in N. Charleston near the Tanger Outlets. Unfortunately, I found it disappointing. It's not like we didn't give it a try, this is our 3rd time here. I just didn't write about the other two thinking they were new and had to work the kinks out. Now, not so new, many kinks remain. When you enter the restaurant the first thing you see is an incredibly large tiki hut that graces the entire center of the building. The theme here is 'margaritaville' and Jimmy Buffet's music is the mainstay. But hey, can you ever hear too much of 'Wasted Away in Margaritaville?' The answer is yes. There were very few patrons either at the table or bar area and our service was swift. We decided to start with the Baked Jalapeno Cheese Dip as we looked through the menu. Billy's is not a fancy place and the menu is simple. Sandwiches, Salads, Wraps, all of the usual suspects dot the pages. There is a "build your own" burger, chicken sandwich and salad section that caught our eye and we quickly placed our order for a chicken sandwich and a burger. Our dip took quite some time to arrive and when it did it was burnt. From the picture you can see that I'm not exaggerating. So here's what I don't understand. The line cook takes it out of the broiler, sees that it's burnt and sets it in the window. The manager, who is also expediting, sees that it's burnt and hands it off to our server, who also sees that it's burnt and brings it to our table. Really? We sent it back for a second try. The second one was better and pretty tasty. But returning it made our lunch a disaster. We sat and watched our lunch dying in the window as our appetizer was served. Again the manager pulled our lunch items, cold as they were, handed them to a server and they were sent out to our table just a couple minutes after our appetizer (round 2) was served. Since they were DOA when they hit the table, we sent these back as well. In a restaurant that seems like it has such a simple formula - burgers, fries, salads, etc., how does is go so wrong so quickly? Apathy perhaps... it's really hard to say. When our lunch (round 2) finally did arrive (we probably had been at the restaurant for close to an hour by now), it was actually okay. Not great by any stretch, but okay. My husband's burger was close to mooing, it was so rare and it had been ordered medium. My chicken sandwich was AOK and the tater tots that accompanied it were perfect. Billy's serves their side items, fries, tots, etc., in mini fry baskets which is really a cute touch. But if you're a place that's supposed to be all about burgers for goodness sake, at least get those right. This is one place that I'll be skipping in the future.

Total waste of time. I came in at 2:30 and was seated. waited and waited and finally got a menu. Got a diet coke and then waited for 10 min. and still no service. The place was not busy but I did not think I should be totally ignored. I put a dollar on the table and left. SERVICE is before food. I will never be back and never recommend

Very, VERY slow service AND the place was practically empty! Burgers were just okay in my eyes - nothing to write home about - and the atmosphere is... um, cheesy? It reminded me of Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville restaurant, a place I am forever on the quest to avoid. All in all, this is a never repeat for me. If I'm in the mood for a solid burger there are far more options in Chucktown to choose from.

I should give them one star because I certainly will never return but there was one redeeming thing about my experience at Big Billy's Burger Joint. My friend and I arrived here around 1:00pm on a weekday and there were very little patrons presumably because we'd avoided the lunch rush. We were seated immediately and our waitress was pleasant enough. There were definitely more employees than customers. I was not too terribly impressed with their burger options as they only had 3 or 4 burger creations offered and the rest were build your own. Also if you wanted to change anything about the creations, you were required to use the build your own. For example, I thought their black bean burger option (southwestern I think?) looked really good but asked if I could substitute a beef patty for a bit more. I was informed that I could not, but I could build it which would end up costing me substantially more! Both my friend and I decided to try the Bacon, Black, and Bleu burger both with fries, both burgers ordered medium. After we placed our order, we kept the menu to keep checking it out for future visits and because we'd decided we would have to indulge in a milk shake to go. Then we waited. And waited and waited. It took quite some time to get our burgers! I really have no idea why it took so long but it did. Finally our burgers arrived and they were massive and looked very tasty. The fries were phenomenally delicious! Yummy. I took a bite of my burger but could barely open my mouth big enough so I decided to cut it in half and eat it that way. When I did, I saw that although the outside had a nice char, the inside was literally raw beef. I like my steaks med rare and I can even do rare (better under cooked than overcooked!) but I ordered my burger medium and I had a burger filled with raw ground beef. My friend's burger was the exact same way. We called the waitress over to let her know about this issue and her response was "Well you did order it medium, right?" which made me snap at her a bit (I was hungry, sorry!) and told her this was NOT medium! At this point, we're hungry, we'd already waited forever, and I was not happy with her response thus far. My friend asked how long it would take to fix the burgers for us to just get it to go since we'd already been gone from work for some time. Our waitress went to go ask the cook and when she returned she said it would be about 9 minutes for med-well. I snapped again. I'm not proud! I told her I do not WANT med-well, I wanted medium which is why I ordered medium!!! We told her not to worry about it, we didn't want it at all, and we left. What a disappointing experience. The only reason I'm not giving them one star? Those freakin' fries were really tasty!!

This is one of the few times I wish I didn't have to award any stars to a restaurant. However, based on the other reviews, the horrid service that led to my wife and I walking out of Big Billy's might have been a blessing in disguise. We decided to try this place for lunch yesterday so we stopped in around 1:30 p.m. A very nice guy greeted us at the door and an equally nice lady sat us at a booth beside the bar. The bartender was quickly over to take our drink order and shortly after delivered them to us. Sadly, this is where everything fell apart. I'm not sure why the bartender was tending bar and taking the orders for the section we were sat in but we were forgotten after the drinks were delivered to the table. I guess we should have been ready with our order the second he brought the drinks back, not that he even bothered to ask if we were ready at that point or said anything along the lines of "I'll be right back to take your order" before walking back to the bar. Every time it looked like he was about to come around into our section, he'd stop and start making a drink for somebody sitting at the bar instead. We tried to get his attention but to no avail and two other employees just walked passed us without stopping so we couldn't even talk to them about getting someone to take our order or them taking our order. We waited as patiently as possible but when we both had finished our sodas, and nobody had bothered to take our order at that point (roughly 20 minutes after we walked in), we dropped a $5 on the table and walked out. So my one star review covers Big Billy's horrible service and the fact that the soda machine seemed calibrated properly because the only thing I got to try there was a Diet Coke. In a city that also has Sesame, Big Gun Burger Shop, countless other locally owned burger places and many 5 Guys Burger and Fries locations, I'd go to any one of those and avoid this place like the plague.

Kind of a let down! First our waiter forced us to listen to a story about the 1% beef and it's history. I wanted a burger, I don't want to know the life history of where it came from. We even told him halfway through explaining the 1% natural beef schmeel that we didn't care to hear it. He then rolled his eyes at my boyfriend, and continued to tell us! Who wants to hear the life story about the animal they're about to eat, seriously! Burgers were ok, but nothing to call home about. Mine came out wrong and missing some of the stuff that was supposed to be on i. And the waiter only stopped by maybe 1 time in our entire meal so letting him know it was wrong was not an option as we never saw him until done eating! Definitely looked better on the outside than the experience. Won't be going back.

Best vanilla milk shake around and the house potatoes chips are great especially when dipped in ranch dressing , the wings are great, the burgers are really good and more than a full meal. Better go hungry as you will have a lot of food ! I have been 3 times and will keep going back.

I know other reviews say stay away... I strongly disagree!! Went here for lunch with some coworkers and it was an awesome experience. I had the Breakfast Burger which was sooooooooooo good!! It had an Angus beef patty with ham, bacon, egg, and hash browns, and cheese on top. And of course all the usual condiments of lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles. For the side, I had sweet potato fries. All was very tasty!!! Mind you, it's not the absolute best burger I've ever had, but definitely towards the top of my list. Everyone in my group has something different, and we all were very pleased. On a return visit the next day, I had the Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos which were most awesome!! Highly recommended!!! So I definitely would recommend this place!! If I were staying in town longer, I would definitely be back. Good service, great meal... A solid 4 stars!!!

The food is OK with many choices. The service is OK. Got an extra charge for a large party last time I was there for a party of six when the place wasn't busy. That's not a large party to me and the policy was not disclosed to us.

Went to this restaurant on the advice of a friend. Nothing outstanding or out of the ordinary. It was very, very slow for lunch. Sweet tea was waaaaaay too sweet. Atmosphere was a little cheesy. Surfer on the beach attempt. I usually give a restaurant two shots to "wow" me. I will give it one more shot and see what happens.

AVOID: Ignored from the start Myself and (2) coworkers stopped by during our lunch break at 12:30 PM today. There were (2) other groups ahead of us, and no hostess at the front. We pateintly waited for 5 minutes without being acknowledged, before one member of our group notified a waiter that groups needed to be sat. Three minutes later, a puzzled young lady asked us if we had been helped. All groups responded we had not, and she went off to locate someone else to assist. At this point, a big burly fellow came by to let us know it "would be another 5 minutes guys...our kitchen has problems..." in a miserable attitude. No professionalism, no service, no manner. Absolute horrible experience. Let me explain why... Thanks for your kind statement, young man. You know how to tell if you are rude? You witnessed all (3) groups of people walk out the door because you acted like a pompous tool. We gladly went to Five Guys and enjoyed service and food. Big Billy's is garbage. Stay away.

If I has written a review the FIRST time I came her, it would have been a five star. HAd a great meal great service. 6 months later went back on a date night. Should have got back in the car when I had to wait outside when there were no less than 6 tables inside clean and ready. big windows, easy to see what the staff isn't doing. We waited anyway, finally seated 40 mins later, wife had a request, no blue cheese on here burger, on the side instead, she not a fan. burger was SMOTHERED in it. she hated it. We both asked for medium. We both got a twice well done burger. Mine had very little flavor. really sad, I wanted to love this place, I will never go back.

Pretty good burgers. I liked them a lot and I thought they were well presented. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The booze were actually pretty good--not something I'm used to from a normal burger joint. I also had their cheese jalapeno dip. That was excellent. They get props for not using some nasty cheese with a chemical aftertaste like other restaurants do with their cheese dips.

Need an option below 1 star. I don't care how good the food might be (and other reviews indicate it ain't that great), any place that turns away customers before closing time deserves to fail. However, it looks like I may have dodged a bullet judging frommthe other reviewers experiences.

Went and tried the place the other day just to see how the burgers are, but was very disappointed in the number of specialty burgers on the menu. The place look great, service is great, atmosphere is great, the menu not so great. The place is called Big Billys Burger which would make you think that they would have a bunch of different burgers. Don't get me wrong, the burger I had was awesome but a place that is boasting that its a burger joint would have alot more specialty burgers on the menu. I will still eat there cause the food is great, but hopefully they will put a larger selection of burgers on the menu.

I went to this restaurant for lunch for the first time this afternoon with several co-workers. Once we were seated, which maybe took five minutes max as they cleared a table for eight, we ordered our drinks and then the food. After about 15 minutes six people had their food, and then the manager walked over to inform the last two (myself being one of them) that there had been a mix-up and our food would be out as fast as possible. It was annoying, but things happen and it was taken care of quickly. Just a few minutes later the manager and our waitress walked out with our two meals. I had ordered the "Black Bean Burger" which was a vegetarian option on their menu. The manager brought mine over and told me that our two lunches were on her because of the mix-up. I told her it wasn't necessary, but she said she would be happy to do it. Suffice to say, I was extremely happy with the way she handled the situation, and because of that, I will definitely be coming back again! To end it all, the food was delicious. The black bean burger had great flavor and a nice texture, and the fires were hot and crispy. Definitely great food and great staff!! Update: I've been back a few times since my initial review, and the food is always good, but the service or wait times are really inconsistent. I would still recommend if you want a decent burger, but make sure you're not in a rush, it could be a while.

I tried Billy's twice this past week with family and friends and had good experiences on both occasions. We received good service and although the restaurant was full both times, we were seated quickly. I had the Breakfast Buger on the first visit and it was very tasty. The burger itself was very good, so good in fact that I kind of wished that I had just gotten a simple cheeseburger. I got the Mahi Mahi soft tacos the next visit and they were very good as well, although they were a little smaller than I expected. The prices were fair and everyone left happy. This is definitely not the greatest place in the world, but you could certainly do a lot worse in the area.

Here is a tip, don't go here. The servers in this place are garbage. The first time I went here was when Big Billy's first opened. Things seemed kind of hectic due to the opening even though it was never really that busy. The burger was pretty good and I felt like this might be a great place to get a burger in North Charleston. Boy was I wrong. My next visit ranks as one of the single most disappointing experiences I have ever had within a restaurant. First off, none of the TV's at the bar were working properly which was kind of odd since the place just opened not long ago. I ordered the same thing that I got the first time and again, the burger wasn't bad. It took awhile to come out, but things happen I guess. After the burger I wanted to try the cookie monster milkshake. What a mistake. As far as I know, all that goes into making this milkshake is chocolate chip cookie dough, vanilla ice cream and Chips Ahoy cookies. So why did it taste like coffee or Kailua? I brought this up with the server and she didn't want to hear my opinion at all. She told me what it tasted like. She said she has had the shake before and that it doesn't taste like coffee. I let the person I was with taste the shake and they agreed that it had a strong taste of coffee, yet the waitress outright said I was wrong. I don't know what kind of place is so hard up to make a buck that they are willing to lose a customer over a $5 milkshake, but I wont go back, and I inform anyone that asks about this place that it sucks. My guess is that this place wont be open very long with poor customer service like this. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?

We stopped in for the first time and really enjoyed the food. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. We took our time ordering and enjoyed the food when it was delivered. The only suggestion we have is to note on the menu that your burgers come with chips.....fries are extra. Actually I think they told us that, but I suggest that if you want fries then tell them not to put the chips on the plate. Its just too much to eat!! Excellent fresh ground beef! Yumm!!!!
